Apple A1316 Cinema Display LED (27-Inch) Screen goes fuzzy

The question is, what is the problem with my display?

Hi, I have an intermittent problem with a 27" A1316 Cinema Display, using the mini display port to an Apple 13" MacBook Pro with Catalina OS, i5 processor, 1 TB SSD, 16GB RAM. The display has a built-in cord/plug for a mini display port.

The display can work fine for minutes, a half hour, or hours, then the screen suddenly produces a pattern of either multi-colored fuzziness or grayish white fuzziness, it never goes black.

When I unplug it from the mini display port and immediately plug it back in, the screen rarely comes back. 99% it doesn't and the MacBook Pro does not recognize the dead Cinema Display. Unplugging and re-plugging in the power cord to the display doesn't make any difference.

If I wait a half hour before plugging in to the display port, it sometimes works again. If I wait an hour or two, it always works.

When I plugged it in to a Late 2009 MacBook, 1 TB SSD, 8GB RAM, it would behave differently. Every 3-5 minutes the screen would suddenly turn white and fuzzy for a few seconds, then come back on to normal. It would do this consistently, never staying fuzzy, keep coming back on to normal like clockwork.

I took it to a local computer repair guy, he had it running fine using one of his computers for 5 hours, it never malfunctioned, charged me for his time, and said he couldn't do anything unless it malfunctions.

It malfunctions most when using Zoom which I use a lot, but has malfunctioned when not on Zoom. So, that may be coincidence.

Thank you,

Carl

Update: The MacBook Pro is now not recognizing another monitor, a very old AOV monitor using a VGA plug to Mini Display Port adapter which has ALWAYS worked before. It does recognize a 4 year old ONN TV used as a monitor.

And, the Cinema Display is working with another Late 2009 MacBook, 1 TB SSD, 8GB RAM. It has been running now for a few hours, we'll see if it keeps running.

The issue may be the computer rather than the display.

Thank you,

Carl
