Why does my wallpaper photo disappear and go black for no reason?
iPhone XS, iOS 16
Hello NEgal30,
We would like to see how we can help you with your Wallpaper not working as expected. If you change it to a new photo, does the issue return? Which iOS version are you currently running? Go to Settings > General > About for the version. Do you use Do Not Disturb during bedtime? If so, this would explain the issue. Check out this link for more information: Use Bedtime to track your sleep on your iPhone - Apple Support
Cheers!
Have this same issue after updating to 16.1.1.
Read link about “bedtime/do not disturb” as suggested - don’t see what that has to do with it. Additionally, have had bedtime/DND set for a couple of years with no wallpaper related issue. I think it’s a bug in 16.1.1.
Thoughts?
I agree with you. I have had the same Lock Screen picture for 9years with no issues and do not have bedtime set up so it is definitely a bug with IOS 16.1.1 . Why it allows the picture to appear and then makes the screen go black a few minutes later is strange , and also why it only affects some people also strange. My wife has the exact same phone and is not having this problem. Come on Apple fix this it is quite annoying.
I changed my wallpaper 2 days ago and haven’t had the issue since. Maybe try that. Or if you want to keep the same then change it and change back again. Still doesn’t make sense why this happens, however so far so good since I changed it.
Have dealt with Apple on three occasions over last two days, with numerous issues happening after the latest update,( one being the wallpaper issues), then this morning noticed the latest version, after having done the 16.1.2 my wallpaper is disappearing more often. So unfortunately it doesn’t help or didn’t help me.
It seems the update to to 16.1.2 was a temporary fix and it has now after 2 days reverted to the black screen again. This is very frustrating having had the same picture for 10 years! If isn’t broken don’t fix it Apple! Also if you make changes make sure they work befor releasing the update! Apple never used to do this. So very disappointing that their attention to detail has slipped!
My wallpaper is still disappearing without warning. I’m at iOS 16.2. It was only happening overnight. Now it’s happening every half hour. It doesn’t matter what picture is being used. I haven’t changed anything in the settings or the wallpaper for years. Only iOS has changed.
Change it to a new picture then change it back . Unfortunately it will still happen, but you can switch from the new back to the old, and it will be good for a while and then you have to do it again and again and so on. It is very frustrating if you want to keep your old pictures! Why don’t they fix it ? Why did they change it? We will never know until that happens…..
I am experiencing the same issue after updating to IOS 16.1.1
Same issue on 16.1.1. Never happened before.
I have changed pic and then changed back again… same prob. I will try to change the pic completely but I’m not hopeful .
There is a new update 16.1.2 and it fixes the problem👍👍
solved
That is strange. After I installed the new update the problem was fixed and has remained fixed.
I update to 16.1.2 and still turns screen black
No solutions? Just happened to me. Latest software installed already.
