Apr 19, 2011 11:04 AM in response to Varruskby gumsie,Your post made me raise my eyebrows as I am looking to do the same. Then I saw it, you state XFX brand. This is not an OEM card then?

Apr 19, 2011 11:18 AM in response to gumsieby Varrusk,Correct. Again, I'll state that I am not a Mac person, just had read that the OS X 10.6.7 had support for new AMD cards.

Apr 19, 2011 11:22 AM in response to Varruskby gumsie,I very much suspect that this is the issue. I'm not sure what I'm suggest won't be deleted but as I have read this;
You won't be able to see the grey/apple logo boot screen if you are using DVI or displayport. The display will be blank until the Mac Pro boots to your desktop. There's a work around for this - simply use the supplied DVI-VGA adapter and connect to your monitor via a VGA cable. You will then be able to see the grey/apple logo boot screen.
About flashed cards which your is? If this is not the issue, I can't suggest anything.

Apr 19, 2011 11:38 AM in response to Varruskby gumsie,Oh well in that case, if it's a PC card it won't work until it is. Can you return it perhaps?

Apr 19, 2011 11:44 AM in response to gumsieby Varrusk,I'm sure I could, but I won't.
I'll just look into flashing it.

Apr 19, 2011 11:45 AM in response to Varruskby gumsie,Whoever sold it can't give you a Mac version instead perhaps?
-
Apr 19, 2011 11:47 AM in response to gumsieby Varrusk,Well, me not being a Mac person didn't research enough to know that a Mac specific version was needed (although, one should probably have assumed). Was purchased through an online retailer.

Apr 20, 2011 5:06 AM in response to TVbeaumontby gumsie,Quick question for you if you don't mind. What card did you have before and is there a large increase in noise now?

Apr 22, 2011 7:03 PM in response to James Webster3by salty777,My Mac pro 1.1 video finally died after about a week of odd behaviour. It's not the Apple Display.... that works fine when plugged into my laptop. The Mac itself makes all the right noises, there's just no picture so I assume it's the card.
Thought I'd take it out (can't remember what it is.... it is original though!) and reseat it and followed a youtube video.... which didn't mention the little black clip at the back.... that is now broken!!
Another video for installing the 5770 shows that an extra lead has to be plugged onto the logic board, which is apparently very awkward. So, first, does this lead come with the card? And second, anyone have any info on where this plug socket is on the logic board?
Finally, I don't do gaming on the Pro... it's mainly Aperture, Final Cut Express and the internet.... I was very pleased with the old card.... so is the 5770 a good choice, or are there better alternatives?
Thanks

Jun 29, 2011 3:41 AM in response to zkrroby Ti-Rex,Would it be a great improvement over the ATI Radeon X1900XT with FCPX?

Aug 8, 2011 4:32 AM in response to James Webster3by grisjambon8,Sorry to butt in, but I tried to fit a radeon HD 5770 card into a 2006 Mac Pro yesterday. removed both the NVidia cards and installed the 5770 OK but I can't see where to connect the power cable. Nowhere obvious, so I put everything back as it was and will wait for further guidance! Thanks in advance

Aug 8, 2011 5:36 AM in response to grisjambon8by ryan42,There should have been two cables shipped with the card that go between the card and two 6 pin connectors on the logic board near the PCI slots.
