Aug 8, 2011 5:54 AM in response to ryan42by grisjambon8,Cheers. I'll try later when I'm feeling strong! Trying to install FCPX is proving more difficult than I thought.

Aug 8, 2011 7:38 AM in response to ryan42by grisjambon8,There was only one cable, but only one connector on the back of the card. Chose one of the two connectors on the logic board, connected it all up and it seems to be working fine. Fired up first time. Checked FCP6, Photoshop and Quark and they all seem to be OK. Now to download FCPX and see where that takes me. Thanks for your help.

Aug 10, 2011 9:06 AM in response to James Webster3by stocky2605,Hi All,
the 5770 works fine in my MacPro 1,1 - with one excpetion: since I've upgraded to Lion it's not possible to activate sleep mode anymore. Display is getting black and goes to power save but the MacPro is still up & running (I hear the fans). I tried different ways to go to sleep - nothing works. I'm pretty sure this is caused by upgrading to Lion - any hints or is there anybody with Lion installed without sleep mode issues?
Thank you.

Sep 2, 2011 9:11 AM in response to James Webster3by ahx8,Help!!! I paid a tonne of $$ for the 5770 DIRECT from APPLE, installed it and i only get the display out of the DVI port. The screen where I have the Mini-dsplay port connected to is blank. Funny thing is that when I check System Preferences Display Arrangement, the system DOES detect the screen. What gives? Why does it stay blank?

Sep 2, 2011 9:18 AM in response to ahx8by gumsie,You did see the bit where it states?;
Compatibility:
- Requires Mac Pro (Mid 2010) with PCI Express 2.0 slot
- Mac OS X v10.6.4 or later
Of course, operation is not guaranteed with any other and the old saying, your mileage may vary applies here.

Thank you for sharing the official Apple Info. It is neither correct nor helpful.
While 10.6.5 is required, the statement about which Macs are supported is based on Apple's policy of only testing currently-shipping products. This card works fine in all Mac Pro models, but is not as fast on models that only have PCI 1.1 slots.

Sep 2, 2011 9:29 AM in response to ahx8by Grant Bennet-Alder,If you are plugging is a Mini Displayport monitor, there is no adapter. The problem many users run into is that the cable must be completely pushed into the socket until essentially all the metal is inside the socket.
If you are hooking up a different display, the interface and the adapters/converters used are the weak link. If you would like help, you will need to provide the details of what display, what interface, what adapters, and the total number of display you want to use.

Sep 2, 2011 9:31 AM in response to Grant Bennet-Alderby gumsie,What is correct regardless of how you choose to look at it is, Your mileage may vary. What it mean as I'm sure you are aware is that it may or may not work.
Now look here for more evidence. Again, your mileage may vary if you are not on the supported list. What is not correct about that? Or helpful Grant?
If you choose to hack and splice then anything is possible. But it's at your own risk.

Sep 2, 2011 9:49 AM in response to gumsieby ahx8,gumsie, No guarantees that it will work, but a lot of folks had success. Even the link said: "The 5770 in the 2006-2007 is compatible using the newest build of 10.6.4 which is included with the new Mid 2010 Mac Pros and allows you to take advantage of all three display outputs on the 5770."
Again this is not gospel, but this forum is here for folks to share solutions.

Sep 2, 2011 9:50 AM in response to ahx8by gumsie,Absolutely, but it does say not to expect an output from the Mini Display port.
-
Sep 2, 2011 9:58 AM in response to gumsieby ahx8,Then why state "and allows you to take advantage of all three display outputs on the 5770."? Are all 3 DVI ports? No the last time I looked 2 seconds ago.

Sep 2, 2011 10:02 AM in response to ahx8by gumsie,The page is a tad ambiguous but where exactly are you talking about?
-
Sep 2, 2011 10:06 AM in response to gumsieby ahx8,After the main section there was an update:
"UPDATE 8/27/10 Well, a bit clarification on certain issues and reiteration of others…here’s what we discovered after additonal testing (and yes, some of your feedback):....."
Regardles of what it says. I am looking for solutions if anyone has any.

Sep 2, 2011 10:10 AM in response to ahx8by gumsie,Well. It appears so, I stand corrected. Sort of - as the mileage has just varied.
The MDP does not work at all, even after a full boot?
-
Sep 2, 2011 10:35 AM in response to gumsieby ahx8,No joy even after shut down and then start up.
I think I will look into my display specs. It is possible that the MDP is not compatible with my LCD displays which I have had for over 5 years and still work fine which is why I never changed them.
