Predictive Text Suggests Nonsense or Words I’ve Never Used Sometimes when I am typing into a text or Safari etc., predictive text will suggest words that aren’t even words. I haven’t used those words in accident before, or even been sent to me by someone else. I have not looked them up on the internet or any of the things that predictive text is supposed to be based on. Sometimes when I have entered a word, it suggests a misspelling of the word which is even worse because if I see the suggestion and I assume that I have spelled the word incorrectly I accidentally change it to the wrong spelling. Why would it even suggest a misspelling when I entered it correctly? I like using predictive text because it will correct words that I didn’t notice I entered incorrectly. But, the issue I am describing is incredibly frustrating and sometimes confusing. When will this issue be fixed? Please don’t reply to tell me that I need to reset my dictionaries or languages, or that it’s based on my use. I have already been through those suggested solutions and they don’t work. Also, please do not reply with instructions to turn off predictive text. That is not a solution to predictive text not behaving usefully or correctly. If anyone else knows a solution please post it. Thank you.

How do i correct a misspelled word that is showing on my screen. Example when i type favorite it puts the red line and says its spelled wrong. Why is autocorrect offering replacement of clearly misspelled words?? I am regularly fighting an automatic highlighting of a correctly spelled word, to what I assume was perhaps an original fat fingered spelling. e.g. Working in apple mail app I am proofing an email phrase is “if needed” I was trying to change “if” to “as” and if I touch to put my cursor after if (to delete “if”) it instead instantly auto highlights “needed” and offers a change to “meedwd” Why on earth would autocorrect regularly be offering a suggested change to clearly misspelled words? And why is that highlighting activated when my cursor isn’t even touching that word? I do not want to entirely lose autocorrect but ever since update a few weeks (months?) ago this new phenomenon has been driving me nuts. On iOS 17.1.1

In which app are you seeing this, and when did it first start?
Sometimes unexpected behavior can be resolved with a restart: Restart your iPhone
Since you're using an iPhone 13, the latest version is iOS 16.1.1. You can verify this within Settings > General > About. In case you needed it, this link shows how to first back up, then Update your iPhone or iPad.
