Apple News app not working normally

The Apple News app doesn’t seem to be working as usual. It has to be restarted to even load initial page. Then if the app stays active long enough before going to a black screen or restarts on its own you may get to start to read a story then once you start scrolling to continue to read the story selected it either goes black or restarts the entire Apple News app. Unloading the app and then restarting doesn’t seem to help. Neither does closing the app and all apps open then clearing data and shutting down the phone for at least 5 minutes then restarting the phone and waiting a few minutes for all handshaking to occur between phone and internet isp etc with apps and such help at all either. No other app I use have any issues at all. Using a iPhone 8 latest series running iOS ver 15.7.1 which I recently updated to then began having issues waiting on upgrading to 16.1.1 to see if I have any other quirks. Advise please, and thank you!
