Why I can’t add my hawaii driver license to my Apple Pay wallet

Apple provides the “infrastructure” and APIs …

… but as Brian noted it’s up to the issuing authorities in each state as to when - or even if - they implement MobileID.

It requires a non-trivial amount of development and ongoing maintenance at the state level; some states may in fact decide to NEVER implement it.

Perhaps tellingly, HI makes no mention of any MobileID initiative either here:

Each state is responsible for Digital ID.

Adding ID to Wallet is easy:

1. Tap in the Wallet app and select your state.
2. Scan the front and back of your ID.
3. Confirm it’s you by following the simple steps.
4. Send to your state for approval. And done.

The states listed below currently support IDs in Wallet, with more on the way.
