Apple Pay disabled on MacBook Air M1

Are you receiving the following error: "Apple Pay has been disabled because the security settings of this Mac were modified."

Check security settings

If you're using a Mac with the Apple T2 Security Chip, Apple Pay requires the highest level of startup security. If you lowered your Secure Boot setting, use Startup Security Utility to raise it to full security. 

Check for the latest software updates

For the strongest security, install the latest Apple software updates.

To make sure that you always get important security updates promptly, keep the “Install system data files and security updates” setting enabled in Software Update preferences:

1. Choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Software Update.

2. Click the Advanced button.

3. Select “Install system data files and security updates.”

Security updates help make your Mac more secure by identifying malicious software and preventing its installation. When you restart your Mac, they also remove any malicious software that is already installed and identified.

If you still get the same Apple Pay alert after installing all available software updates and restarting your Mac, contact Apple Support for help.

Did you lower the security settings on your Mac. If you do, you cannot use Apple Pay.
