How to recycle my iMac?

Can anyone explain how I can get a kit posted to me in order to recycle an iMac? I’m going round in circles. Some Apple representatives say there is no such kit, you have to bring the product into a store. Others say there is, and I’ll receive one five days after purchase of my new iMac. But I’ve not received it

If you are in the U.S., go to the following website: Apple Trade In - Apple

Scroll down to the "Select your device to get a trade-in estimate" section, click "Computer" and enter the information requested. It should either offer you a Gift Card or if it doesn't have any value, offer to recycle it. Either way, they will then send the materials to use for the shipment.

The above assumes that you didn't arrange the trade in using that site before you purchased your new iMac.

It may not be what you want but, as you are in the U.K. and simply want to get rid of it, I found the firm Revive IT, based in London and Leeds, very helpful. They collected the old CRT iMac from the house and later sent a certificate confirming that they had securely removed all data before disposing of the components. (I had only wiped the disk.) Obviously no charge.

OK. The situation is this. I started out on the trade in route and entered the serial number of my old iMac. But Apple informed me it was worth nothing, but they could recycle it for me. Then the thread dried up and there was no indication how to order the trade in kit. My new iMac arrived on 18th November. It is not possible for me to visit a store at the moment. The website clearly indicates I can either take it to a store or they will send me a recycling kit. I have contacted Apple by phone and via online chat but unusually they have not been very helpful. Any suggestions?
