Enlarging wallet qr code

Many tickets stored in wallet have qr codes that don’t work because the code is not large enough. For example, the whole of the french rail system. To try the app rather than wallet usually fails too as when moved to scan it often reorients the sceen obscuring the code.

the work around is a scrrengrab, but sorta defeats idea and easy access of wallet.

is there a way to make wallet qt bigger?

Hi Todd

Think thats a misunderstanding of the issue.

In apple wallet it appears that the size of the ticket (in this instance) is fixed.

Some qr scanners - like those used by the French railway system (SNCF) - seem to need a larger QR code.

the lack of ability to scale the ticket in the wallet means tickets held in wallet dont work on SNCF

This omission is also a problem for accessibility in that the type point size is often small on items stored in wallet and need ability to enlarge.

There reason using a ticket stored elsewhere (for example in photos as screen grab or in SNCF app) is that if you have orientation on, as you approach a scanner that usually kicks in, and the QR code now does not fit into the aspect ratio of the screen and so disappears out if view.

the best way to understand this is simply to try it. That will reveal all!

James ~ Whilst you await a proper fix to the Wallet app, the workaround of screenshots can be made more easily accessible with a custom shortcut created in Apple's Shortcuts app. For example, a menu can present a choice of which QR screenshot to display from your Photos library. The shortcut below (which displays COVID docs) could be easily adapted for your QR codes and the shortcut's icon placed on your Home Screen for one-tap access:

...and here's the shortcut that does that:

Greetings James Welland,

Ensuring you're able to scan the QR and/or barcodes on a pass or ticket in Wallet is important. When you notice this happen, have you tried closing and reopening the Wallet app? If not, closing and reopening apps is a great way to resolve many issues. You can find the steps for closing and reopening apps listed below. You can also find these steps outlined in the following article.

  1. "From the Home Screen, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause in the middle of the screen.
  2. Swipe right or left to find the app that you want to close.
  3. Swipe up on the app's preview to close the app."

Close an app on your iPhone or iPod touch

If you continue to have issues after those steps, you'll want to complete the remaining steps outlined in the article below. While the title of the article references a different issue, these steps are still relevant for resolving many app related issues.

If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open

Have a great day!
