Is there a way in macOS (screenshot.app) to copy a new screenshot to the clipboard automatically (without having to press the control key)?

Yes. There is a little app in the Utilities folder (which is in the Applications folder) called Screenshot. Launch it and you will get several options, all of them described in the support document Take screenshots or screen recordings on Mac

Or the keyboard way is always available Take a screenshot on your Mac using the command key and a selection of other keys.

Oh I got it:

Clipboard is not an available option for screen recordings (video), only for screenshots (images).

If you use the hotkey combination command+shift+5, it opens the screenshot.app with video recording selected. You either need to open the app from the folder or after using command+shift+5 you then have to select one of the screenshot methods.

Thanks
