It all depends on your carrier and in some cases with older phones, the actual model of phone.
On average, you can connect 5 devices to most hotspots, but some carriers allow up to 10.
Check with your carrier for a better idea of what you can expect. Keep in mind that the more devices you have connected, the slower the connections will be for each device.
