Magic Trackpad haptic feedback not working after Ventura update on Macbook Pro

My laptop: Macbook Pro 15-inch, 2017

macOS: 13.0.1 (22A400)

I updated to the mac os Ventura recently, but the haptic feedback on my Magic Trackpad stopped working. All the clicks are working fine, just the vibration is missing, any help please? (the built-in trackpad on my laptop is working fine)

I've tried to turn off the Magic Trackpad for few hours, and turn it back on. The haptic feedback worked for few seconds, but soon stopped.

Disconnecting the trackpad or restarting the laptop won't help as well.

MacOS Monterey 12.6.7 (21G651) here, same problem.

A few weeks ago, this happened, and I tried most of the remedies listed here: unpairing and re-pairing, pairing to a different Mac and then back to the one where I want it, somewhere in there a reboot probably happened. Got it to work again.

This week, nothing helps, even overnight in the freezer.

I could live without "haptic feedback" from the device, but I need a way to mouse-down-hold to drag things around for the device to be useful rather than annoying.

WTF, I had the same issue, I tried to clean the gap with thin A4 paper, reset nvram smc etc.

Nothing worked and I was so ready to reinstall the OS for the final try, had no hope with the heating method but tried it anyway with a hair dryer (the touch feels like 80-90 degrees, and not to blow it toward the screen in case it kills retina).

Then it worked, what the actual F I can't believe this, this is hilarious TBH.

I’m having the same issue with the same MBP (2017 15”), but for me it started following a more recent Ventura update – to version 13.5 (22G74).

I’ve tried all the fixes in this thread that do not involve changing the temperature of my laptop or the trackpad (I don’t have a hair dryer, among other reasons).

Strangely, I'm having the same issue when using the Magic Trackpad with my iPad as well – i.e., it works but no haptic feedback. This was not the case prior to the above-referenced Ventura update for my MBP.

Is there an actual fix for this that doesn’t involve a hairdryer, a freezer, or a "heat gun"?  Please??  Thank you!

I have same issue with non-working haptic feedback stopped in Magic Trackpad 2.

I have tried many suggestions from this forum (reset PRAM, reconnect, forget Bluetooth, reboot, etc) but none of them worked.

Except refrigerator. I put Trackpad over night to refrigerator. Then I switched it on and haptic feedback worked! However it worked only for a minute, and then stopped working again.

Apparently this issue has nothing to do with the OS but Trackpad itself. Something may be wrong by design already.

I also encounter low battery capacity in the trackpad too. I wonder whether this issue has something to do with the battery, too. Eg. battery blows up, and pushed to the haptic feedback motor so much that it is not capable to work. This is just an idea what could be a root issue.

Has anybody tried to replace a battery and see whether haptic feedback started to work normally?

My haptic feedback of my trackpad (not the magic trackpad) was suddenly not working on my macbook pro... The macbook was therefore useless.

What worked for me: I run apple diagnostics which did the trick. After the diagnostics menu appeared the trackpad was again working as it should.

For my macbook it was just a kind of software glitch.

FXED for me.

MacBook Air (Intel 2020) Inbuilt Trackpad stopped working after upgrading to Sonoma 14.0.

Actions:

Didn't work: Ran diagonstic

Didn't work: SMC Reset, and Reebot

Didn't work: Using Paper edge to clean trackpad gaping

Worked: Heating trackpad using Hair dryer and simultaneously cleaning trackpad gap using Paper edge (while doing this, keep the device turned off and let it cool down before restarting)

Same problem with my Macbook. I raised the issue with Apple support, and they concluded that it is an issue with the hardware and already needs repair. I really can't accept that its a hardware problem since it all started malfunctioning after the upgrade only. I notice that it is also random, sometimes working, sometimes not.

Then I recently noticed that the vibration haptics always start to malfunction once sleep mode, or turning off display, or inactive, i dont know which one, but haptics starts malfunctioning always after i don't shutdown and leaving it inactive until displays off or sleeping mode.

Resetting didnt help, both NVRAM and SMC. I don't have bluetooth accessories, so nothing has to be removed.

Then I found what works for me - I will have to drain the battery. Then after charging and starting, it will start to work again. This always works 100% of the time - at least for me.
