Siri’, and the ‘Hey Siri’ command can be enabled during the setup process when you first use your new device.

If you chose not to set up Siri on first use, or want to change some ‘Siri’ settings you can do so in the ‘Settings’ app.

  1. Tap the ‘Settings’ icon on your home screen.

  1. Tap on ‘Siri & Search’.

  1. There are two ways of activating ‘Siri’: You can say “Hey Siri” or long-press the ‘Home’ button to bring up the ‘Siri’ screen. Tap the toggle switches next to these options to enable them.

When you enable either “Listen for “Hey Siri” or ‘Press Home for Siri’ you will receive an alert warning you that ‘Siri’ sends information to Apple’s web servers in order to process your request. If you are a happy to proceed, tap ‘Enable Siri’ or press ‘Cancel’ if you don’t wish to enable ‘Siri’ at this time.

“Hey Siri”

  1. If you have chosen to enable “Hey Siri” you will now be prompted to train your device to better understand your voice.
  2. Tap ‘Continue’ to begin
  3. You will be asked to say, “Hey Siri” three times.
  4. You will then be prompted to ask a couple of standard ‘Siri’ queries such as “Hey Siri, how’s the weather today?”.
  5. Click ‘Done’ on the ‘“Hey Siri” Is Ready’ screen to return to ‘Siri’ settings.Tip: If you want to retrain your device to better recognise your voice, just tap the toggle switch next to ‘Listen for Hey Siri”’ twice (to turn the feature off and back on), then go through the “Hey Siri” setup steps again.

Press Home for Siri

  1. To be able to activate Siri by long-pressing the Home button, tap the on/off toggle switch for 'Press Home for Siri'.
