iPad iOS 16 Stage Manager doesn't remember size and position of windows

I am using an iPad Pro 12.9 with iOS 16.1.1 and using Stage Manager to set size and position of windows and I am having to constantly resize and reposition them because it doesn't remember. Is there a setting or something for this?

While Stage Manager allows you to have multiple resizeable windows, perhaps contrary to expectations, App windows cannot be infinitely resized.

App Windows will size to preset aspect ratios (including full screen) - and can be positioned centrally, side by side, or anchored to a fixed edge/corner of the screen. Windows can overlap - and when active will appear on top of other overlapping windows.

For larger screened models of iPad, you can set the Display Zoom to Larger Text, Default or More Space - the latter effectively providing a larger “desktop” for the available screen size by altering the pixel density.

Have you tried positioning the windows by dragging them using the “…” button at top-centre of the App Window?

This button is also the “handle” with which to drag windows to the preferred screen position. With the zoom level set to More Space, you have significantly more control over App Window sizing, relative aspect ratio and positioning. Window sizing is controlled with the tiny “arc handle” that appears at the bottom-left or bottom-right of the resizable window.
