I have been trying to recover deleted messages but the "Show Recently Deleted" does not appear in my Messages menu. Help? I am on the most recent updated 16.1

Why doesn't "Show Recently Deleted" appear in the edit menu in Messages? Updated to the most recent iOS and it is nowhere to be seen.
