The instructions for using Focus on the support site are wrong. They direct the user to press/hold the "Focus" icon on the Control Center screen.
On my iPhone 13 16.1.1, there's no "Focus" listed in the Control Center screen.
Are you saying that you don’t see Focus under the lock icon when you swipe down from the upper right corner to open the Control Center? That setting is a default in the Control Center and cannot be removed.
if you do see it, a simple tap on the Moon icon will place your phone in DND a mode. Don’t tap and hold down on the Focus tab, just tap the moon icon.

That's the path for editing what appears in the Control Center.

As IdrisSeabright said, what you read in the support article is the path to edit what is in the Control Center. The reason that you didn’t see it in the settings for the control center is because it is a default setting and it cannot be removed and therefore cannot be added back again either.
