It seems that SIP does not allow the content of Downloads or Documents. Even after checking the fileshare.

After upgrading to Catalina the network access from my Windows machine in my home network is blocked. Even after checking the fileshare on. How to resolve this.

First step would be to check that you are using SMB. Check System Preferences > Sharing > File Sharing > Options > Share files and folders using SMB. And if you only have APFS formatted drives, disable AFP sharing (APFS drives cannot be shared via AFP).

Also, under Windows File Sharing enable (check) the Users whose accounts you want to share.

Also verify that your Workgroup name matches. Check System Preferences > Network > (Ethernet or Wifi whichever you are using) > WINS > Workgroup

And AFAIK, SIP has nothing to do with this.

Ok.

Here I have found the real solution.

I am not using cron, but the same article mentions the smbd utility. This deamon is responsible for the network communication. And yes, if you allow this deamon to have full disk access, my files can be approached on my home network from a Windows machine via SMB.

Thank you all for your time, but Apple .... you can do better.

Thanks for your reply. I already made did the steps described. The problem is not that I can't connect both machines. The problem is that "some folders" don't allow to be accessed: Documents, Desktop, Downloads. Why? I selected Sharing on my Home folder and checked: "Apply to enclosed items" .

I had no problems with this for more than 25 years. It's frustrating.

I'm sorry to tell that this does not work. Even if I give "staff" & "everyone" Read and Write access, I still get the same message: Access Denied.

When I start an Apple-app, OSX asks me to give this privilege to use folders and drives, but it forgets to ask me to give this privilege from a device that I as administrator want to connect to my own machine, even after explicit allowance to all items in my home directory.

Again: Why is Apple doing this? I want to use this on my local home network behind a firewall. I am not talking about sharing from obscure open networks in weird countries.
