Switch between microphones during video recording

Hello,

Just switched to IPhone 13 Pro and realised that I don’t hear myself during a video recording!! Just hear some muffled sounds but not my voice !!

when I record a video with a main camera and say something behind it ( looking directly into the screen) I don’t hear myself at all! Like I’m doing a tour around some place - and the voice quality is really really bad. I hear people in 30 meters but not my own voice !!

Weird thing is that the wider camera gets (0.5) the better the voice behind the camera gets, an the more zoom applied - the more muffled the voice gets.

I was really puzzled at first, and thought that I got a broken iPhone. But then realised, that iPhone has 3 microphones, and somehow smartly decides which microphone to use. Unfortunately I didn’t find how to manually switch between microphones . Tried to use 3rd party apps- they allow to choose between 3 microphones, but their overall quality is pretty low and interface is too bloated.

I also tried to duck tape the back microphone - but quality became even worse..

Honestly saying - it’s so annoying that I stoped using iPhone for recordings and has to use my old Samsung for that.

Are there any behind-the-scenes ways to change microphones behaviour on iPhone ? Or i just missed something ?

Thanks!

iPhone 13 Pro
