New mac air - word and excel freezing my computer

have bought a new mac air and the word and excel are freezing my computer.

You could also test in new, test user account on your Mac and see if the issue persists: Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support.

Please provide some detail and context such as what model/year computer, what MacOS version, and what version Microsoft Office. Maybe you need to upgrade your Office app. Maybe you have installed third party apps that are contributing to the slowness issue.
