mac mini 2009 windows 10 no audio (solved)

Hi,

just for future reference if anyone has the same problem, I just did a clean install of windows 10 on a mac mini 2009.

It initially went into a boot loop but after the third reboot windows repaired itself and everything works smoothly except for the audio device.

It was initially identified in device manager as "High Definition Audio Device" without any exclamation marks but there was no audio output from the speakers or headset.

The audio board in the mac mini has a realtek ALC885 chip on it.

I downloaded and unzipped Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5640 and run the RealtekSetup.exe in the BootCamp5.1.5621\BootCamp\Drivers\RealTek folder

Audio works fine now

Enjoy your mac mini
