that reports show a segmentation fault -- a reference to memory not owned by the process making the reference.

The two most common reason are added junk-ware: third-party virus scanners, speeder-uppers, optimizers, file deleters and similar. The litmus test is to run in Safe mode. If it does not happen is safe mode, it's something you added.

Another common source is a RAM memory hardware error, which generates a reference to a wonky address. the test is to run the diagnostic.

Yours looks more like the former than the latter, because it looks like you referenced location 0030, which is not available to applications.

Hi Addy,

Not sure if it will help for you case. I had the same problem as you do. My case is the mac automatically restarts when it enters sleep mode regardless Mac lid is closed or open.

What did in sequence after calling apple service is

  1. set a test account and keep my MacBook pro 2020 running in test account -- no issue found
  2. boot into safe mode -- no issue found
  3. did hardware check -- no issue found
  4. did hard disk first aid using disk utility -- no issue found
  5. killed hibernation in admin account (the one I use daily) in terminal -- issue still prevailed -- can google how to kill this. There are posts mentioned about mac restarting when the lid is closed in Ventura beta version. Here is the link

https://www.iphonetricks.org/mac-restarts-in-sleep-mode-after-closing-lid/

  1. Re-installed Ventura -- issue still there
  2. uninstalled a bunch of softwares -- issue still there (apparently I didn't find the right app to uninstall)
  3. In login items in system preference -- disabled all apps running in the background -- issue still there
  4. In login items in system preference -- deleted all start-up apps -- issue gone
  5. tested all start-up apps by only switching on one at a time -- issue identified -- Alfred (app) is causing the mac restart automatically

Hope it may help. I'll keep an eye on tonight to see if it happens or not.

That panic report seems to point to a problem with bridgeOS.

bridgeOS is a mobile operating system created and developed by Apple Inc. for use exclusively with its hardware. bridgeOS runs on the T series Apple silicon processors[1] and operates the OLED touchscreenstrip called the "Touch Bar"[2] as well as multiple other functions, including managing the encrypted data in their Secure Enclave and acting as a gatekeeper and video codec to the device's cameras. bridgeOS is a heavily modified version of Apple's watchOS.

There are two possible way to proceed:

IF and only if you have another Mac available that can run MacOS 12.4 Monterey or later, you can consider linking the two and reviving the firmware on the T2 chip:

Revive or restore an Intel-based Mac using Apple Configurator - Apple Support

in all other cases, contact support, who MAY direct you to an Apple store for additional help:

Kernel Panic Reports are stored at:

/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports

If you copy and paste that string into:

Finder > Go menu > Go to Folder

it will take you to where those reports are stored.

They are named with Date&Time and start or end in ‘panic’

If you find one, please post the entire report here, by using the “additional text” Icon in the reply footer (looks like a paper with writing).

Please don’t post more about 20 lines of any other types of reports — they are interminable, and any information useful for this purpose is on the first screenful.

Hi,

Try to check your MacBook Pro with Apple Diagnostics if it's caused by hardware related trouble.

Use Apple Diagnostics to test your Mac - Apple Support

If it reports hardware error or doesn't, you'd better take your MacBook Pro to your local retail AppleStore, Genius Bar or Apple Authorized Service Provider to be examined your MacBook Pro there.

whatsApp and zoom are not in the class of software I was referring to, which are items like:

Avast, Norton utilities, Symantec, McAfee, Kaspersky, BitDefender, Total defense, WebRoot, Trend Micro, Clario, Intego, F-Secure, Vipre, MacKeeper, CleanMyMac, AppZapper, and many more.

Others that can cause problems are any VPN software you decide to install (as opposed to VPN used with your Institution, which they will help support).

Hi

Going into the DiganosticsReports Library, I could not find a report with Panic in the name.

I also could not find any report from today, all reports are from prev. days (I checked the computer date) - last one is from yesterday (28-11-22)

most of the reports I got are "SiriSearchFeedback...diag"

Looking at the Control panel, I can see under the "crash report" 1 report from yesterday, but still nothing from today, although the Mac will restart a few seconds after it goes to the screensaver, and it will repeat itself.

Thanks

Addy
