There are a couple of ways to take screenshots on MacOS, but all of them save the screenshot as a file on your desktop. Is there a way to store a screenshot directly to the clipboard memory and paste it in a mail or message ?

Contents of the clipboard are replaced with every operation that copies to it. An image that you direct there and then do not use right away, will be short-lived on the clipboard.
