Hi trying to install the java 6se but system keeps sayint new version installed and cannot install this version

Java 6 is sufficiently old that it has 32-bit code in it and that is not supported in Catalina or later that only support 64-bit applications. Any application that requires Java 6 is not likely to be supported on Catalina either. Consider Java 8U351 or later.
