stolen iPhone.

My phone has been stolen, and the thief somehow turn off find my iPhone it was appearing in the map, but it was offline, after a while it disappeared from the map, I checked if find my iPhone was on, but it was turned off.

I did the steps written in this page (If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is lost or stolen - Apple Support) and (If Find My iPhone or Find My iPad isn't enabled on your missing device - Apple Support).

I believe that I cannot get back my phone but there were some important notes in the phone, thankfully it was saved in iCloud but some of the notes was locked with my face id.

I couldn't access these notes, it said "Can't view note. This note uses a locking method supported only in Notes for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. To view locked notes in Notes for icloud.com, switch to using a custom password on one of those devices."

I have tried entering my iCloud id in an iPad that I had, and I set a custom password for the locked notes but that note that I wanted to access did not unlock, it shows the unlocked icon but still saying the same thing, but for other notes that I locked them after setting the password it worked.

I am asking your help to access to these notes.

thank you for your help...

Hi saad_a,

Thanks for posting here in Apple Support Communities. You've mentioned that you had your notes locked with your Face ID which would also require a passcode. Any passcode locked notes can't be viewed on the the iCloud website. You can see more about this here: View notes and locked notes on iCloud.com

"View and close locked notes

You can view notes you locked on an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac that’s signed in with the same Apple ID.

In Notes on iCloud.com, do either of the following:

  • View locked notes: Select a locked note in the list, then enter the password you created for locked notes.
  • After you enter the password for one locked note, you can view other locked notes without reentering the password. The notes are locked again after a period of inactivity or when you close the browser window.
  • If you reset the Notes password using Notes on an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac, entering the new Notes password only lets you view locked notes that use the new password. If some of your notes use an older password, you must enter that password to view them.
  • Note: If you locked your notes with your Apple device’s passcode or login password, you can’t view them on iCloud.com.
  • Close locked notes: Click the Lock button in the Notes toolbar.

To add a lock to a note, remove a lock from a note, change the password for locked notes, or reset the password if you forget it, use the Notes app on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac. See the Apple Support article How to lock notes on your iPhone or iPad or Lock your notes on Mac in the Notes User"

Kind regards.
