My main computer is a Mac Mini. I am just adding a new MacBook Air M1 and wondering if I can use the Mini’s Time Machine to set it up. I intend to keep the Time Machine connected to the Mini afterwards. Any issues? Any procedures I should know about?

Transferring data and apps to a new Mac, Time Machine backups are the preferred method so there should be no issue.
However, you will need a separate drive if you intend to do Time Machine backups from the new MacBook Air.

Thanks very much. So, to be clear, I disconnect the Time Machine from Mac Mini, hook it up to the Air, set it all up, then disconnect and reattach to the Mini. As for the Air, FYI, I'll back up what I need to the Cloud and Google Drive.
