Why so many updates lately?

Hi, I was just wondering what’s going on with Apple software I never seen so many software update in the last two months. Myself I got some extra security, but I was told that Apple iPhones were safest phones ever very hard to hack, but now I am wondering just my opinion on Apple software

You can continue to expect frequent updates because the bad guys keep coming up with new ways to try to do bad things, and there are lot more bad guys now than there were even a few years ago.

markc ~ Presumably iPhones are "very hard to hack" partly because Apple doesn't wait to release security updates and other fixes in order to combine them in a single, more convenient, release. Instead, Apple releases them as soon as possible.

They are the safest phones, precisely because of the updates. When there's any vulnerability or issue that needs fixing Apple puts out a fix and you get an Update. Would you rather they leave the issue unaddressed so we get less updates?

In the last 2 months Apple has issued 4 updates for iPhones. 16.0.2, 16.1, 16.1.1 and yesterday's 16.1.2.

You can see what they fix here: link ➡️ About iOS 16 Updates - Apple Support

It's not entirely uncommon to have multiple updates. Updates are what keep the device secure.

Don’t falsely equate frequency of updates with lack of security. As user Bob Timmons points out the bad guys are always probing. The good guys are always probing too and alerting Apple and Google to the holes they find. Be thankful those holes are patched before the bad guys find and use them against you.

And iPhones being very hard to hack doesn’t mean they can’t be hacked. Fortunately most of those hacks require the bad guy to have your iPhone in his/her grubby hands to do it.
