blip sound at regular intervals with music over USB

I'm playing music via iTunes and Colibri (DSD files) over USB to powered Klipsch speakers and I can't get rid of a blip sound that keeps repeating about 80 beats per second (almost like a pop on a record player). this doesn't happen when using line out or built-in speakers or Bluetooth (headphones or the same Klipsch speakers in bluetooth mode). just with USB sound. any ideas? this is on a late 2013 iMac 21.5" - but also on my newer Macbook Air.

Salutations tubadanm,

As you work to further isolate the situation are you able to test with a different USB cable?

Additionally, you’ve mentioned the issue occurring with multiple Macs. Are they running the same version of macOS?

Last thought for the moment here, are there other accessories connected to the computers or is there a USB hub involved that might be causing some interference? That is testable by removing the extra devices temporarily.

Thanks.
