Greetings NOOB-MAC-USER,

For unexpected behavior seen on your Mac, begin by restarting the machine using the steps found here:

Shut down or restart your Mac - Apple Support

"Restart your Mac

  • On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > Restart.
  • If you don’t want app windows that are open to reopen when your Mac restarts, deselect 'Reopen windows when logging back in.'"

Take care.

thank you Dustin

restarting the machine doesn't appear to solve the problem.

i think it has something to do with the Monterey update because when i returned back to Catalina the problem was solved and know after updating my software again the searching problem reappeared.

to describe it it seems like loop responsible for finding files does not have a break point it locates files yet it keeps searching.
