Crescent moon symbol
I have the crescent moon sign on one of my contacts and I can’t get it off there. I don’t have an I in the right corner of the message

Sounds like you may have muted that conversation. This should help:
"Mute notifications for a conversation
- In the Messages list, touch and hold a conversation.
- Tap Hide Alerts."

Another option is to slowly swipe left while holding down on the thread, then selecting the bell icon.
