Mac Mail text is too small

I understand that there are workarounds with viewing received messages, but there are no real solutions to composing a message when the default font is so tiny. Zooming using various preferences is not a solution but in fact an annoyance, especially on a MacBook with small screen.

And I will posit this: Apple has a duty to be sensitive to those who are visually challenged/impaired by incorporating reasonably viewable text size into the mail app. As well, by defaulting text in Mail to such a tiny size, it is probably that users are harming their eyesight trying to compose and read emails, especially children.

There is a way to increase the font size and even the font in the composition view.

Go to the Mail ➙ Settings ➙ Fonts and Colors settings pane and set the Message font to whatever you want.

That will be reflected in the email that you're composing.
