The Microphone: Now Missing in NOTES APP on iPad

The microphone in Notes on my iPad is

no longer present.

I have done the following 1-3 steps troubleshooting: 1 turning on and off iPad 2 checking this —settings—keyboard—making sure enable dictation is on. It is. 3 Saving notes to iCloud and removing the app and then re-installing it. Still, I do not have the microphone back in Notes. (However, after step 3 the microphone came back to the search bar, just not in Notes.)

What else should I try?

Thanks!

Hi kayann1025,

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today

Your iPad has a couple of different mics. There are ways to test them to see if this is actually a hardware issue. You can find them here: If the microphones on your iPad aren't working

"If Siri can't hear you

  1. Open the Voice Memos app.
  2. Tap the Record button , speak at the top of your iPad, then stop the recording.
  3. When you play back the memo, you should hear your voice clearly.
  4. If you don't hear your voice clearly, contact Apple Support.

If you can't record sound in videos

  1. Open the Camera app.
  2. Record a video while speaking at the top of your iPad.
  3. Tap the camera chooser  to switch to the other camera. Then record another video while speaking at the top of your iPad.
  4. When you play back the videos, you should hear your voice clearly.
  5. If you don't hear your voice clearly, contact Apple Support."

You won't find the Notes app in the mic's privacy settings since it is not a third-party app.

Have a fantastic day!
