Garmin GPS connection to M1 MacBook Pro -- Easy Fix
This question has already been asked on this and many other forums -- how can I get my M1 MacBook Pro to recognize my Garmin GPS unit? In my case, I have a Garmin Zumo 595, BMW Navigator V, and BMW Navigator VI and I could not update any of them with my M1 MacBook Pro. At least one previous user solved the issue by using a Dynex 2.0 USB Hub and power adapter which are no longer manufactured, but you might be able to buy a pre-owned one on Ebay.
I was able to finally resolve my issue with a Sabrent 4-port USB 2.0 Hub that I purchased on Amazon for $8.95. Here's a link to it: https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-4-Port-Individual-Switches-HB-UMLS/dp/B00BWF5U0M/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=372SK8VPOOAWO&keywords=sabrent+4+port+usb+2.0+hub&qid=1670113130&sprefix=sabrent+4+por%2Caps%2C104&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&smid=A29Y8OP2GPR7PE&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzMjdZMk1MWFFDTVJQJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNTgxMzg2MzRER1JRTlI4N1RNVSZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNzY3MTI4MjFVSTlOMUNCVjNZTyZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=
Just plug the hub into an Apple USB-C to USB-A adapter and then plug your Garmin device into the hub using the Garmin supplied cable and your M1 Mac will recognize your Garmin device. The hub worked with all 3 of my Garmin GPS units.
