New MacBook Pro 2022 volume is too low

I recently purchased a refurbished MacBook Pro 13" 2022.

I've been noticing that the volume is much lower than my old MacBook Pro and it is a problem. Is there any way to adjust this?

For example, when I'm on zoom with a student, I have to turn the volume ALL the way up to hear them ok (esp. if there's background noise), and if it's a very quiet student, I can't turn it up any higher. When the forced air heat goes on, I need to turn the volume up to better hear things, but it's already far up.

I used to have it maybe to ⅓ for most things and ⅔ for zoom with students.

Now it's ⅔ to ¾ for most things, and almost all the way up for zoom.

The ¼ level is almost silent. ⅓ is very very quiet. (Except for commercials).

Hi deborah111,

We'd like to help you find the best resolution for your volume. With the details you shared, if there is a problem, a good starting path would be If you can’t hear sound from your Mac speakers - Apple Support which has some troubleshooting methods to try. If this does not help, further inspection may be needed and you can contact Apple Support to determine what's best.
