Iphone overheating

Hi,

i have the new iphone 14 for a month now. Still 100% battery heatlh but my question is, why is my iphone turning off and showing that its overheating even tho im only charging it or playing a game without any other games in the background? And when it turns off it comes back on and shuts down again and repeats ir for about 20 minutes.

and when i turn on hotspot after 5 minutes it shuts off the phone again.

maybe its because of a water damage issue? Because before 3 days i poured water on my phone and it got into the microphone and speakers.

my accessories are new, compatible with an iphone (i only use cable) and still shuts down when charging.

And i have quit a thick case.

and updated to IOS 16.1.2

maybe you know why its happening or what to do?

Hello kristofers128,

If your device is displaying the "Temperature Alert" it would mean it has exceeded its designed operating temperature range so it will prevent usage until it cools down.

Here's some situations where the device may become warm:

  • "Set up your device the first time
  • Restore from a backup
  • Wirelessly charge your device
  • Use graphics-intensive or processor-intensive apps, games, or features, including augmented-reality apps
  • Stream high-quality video"

Ambient temperature can also cause it to show a temperature alert. If you're using the device in a hot environment or direct sunlight, it can heat up.

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch gets too hot or too cold

If your device has been water damaged, then you'll need to get it repaired. You can find available service options for iPhone here: iPhone Repair & Service

Cheers!
