Photos: conversion of colour into b&w then save as separate file

In Photos, is it possible to convert a 10,7 Mb colour photo into black & white and then save it as a separate file of same size to disk? (colour photo imported from Pictures on disk).

Thank you

I just took a 10.5 MB jpeg color image and converted it to B/W and exported at full size (pixel-wise), Maximum JPEG Quality and got the same pixel dimensions in a 7.9 MB jpeg image file. So you lose about 30% file size by removing the color info.

If you used JPEG Quality as High the file size would have been even smaller.
