Unable to manage my child’s contacts or downtime preferences 16.1.1 iPhone 14 pro.

Previously I was able to manage my child’s downtime schedule and contacts during downtime. I’ve lost that ability. When I try to toggle “manage contacts” the button does nothing. It’s as if I’ve lost that ability, even after putting in my password.

what can I do?

Hi Huggybear55,

Thanks for contacting Apple Support Communities!

We understand that you're unable to make any changes to Screen Time Communication Limits for your daughter's device.

In order to edit the Screen Time Communication Limits, you will need to be sure that you have Contacts enabled in iCloud on your device and your daughter's device as outlined here: Set up iCloud for Contacts on all your devices

"Set up iCloud for Contacts on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  1. On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • iOS 16, iPadOS 16, or later: Tap Show All, then turn on Contacts.
    • iOS 15, iPadOS 15, or earlier: Turn on Contacts.
  1. To view contacts stored in iCloud, open the Contacts app, then do one of the following:
    • If you have more than one source of contacts: Tap Groups. Below iCloud, select All Contacts or another group.
    • If you don’t have multiple contacts sources: All the contacts you see are stored in iCloud.

For more information on how to use Contacts on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or to use iCloud contacts to manage who your children can communicate with on their Apple devices, see any of the following:

We hope this helps.

Take care!
