Why won't Safari (v 12.1.2) play Pluto TV and shows only a black screen on MacBook Pro High Sierra

Why won't Safari (v 12.1.2) play Pluto TV, and shows only a black screen when I click on Pluto TV links on MacBook Pro High Sierra (v 10.13.6) All I get is a Black screen

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.13

Start with If Safari on Mac doesn't open a webpage or isn't working as expected - Apple Support.


Review all those suggestions, but if nothing helps it is likely that website requires a newer version of Safari, which might not be possible if you are still running OS X "High Sierra".


If possible: How to download macOS - Apple Support


If you are unable to update macOS, I suggest trying a different browser such as Brave:


https://brave.com/


Firefox is another alternative:


https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/
