The full suite of Adobe products is available form Adobe. The latest versions of many of their products may support Apple-silicon M1 processor natively, and all others work through Rosetta emulation (which is automatically invoked when needed).

Preview is already installed on your Mac, and can be used to read existing pdf documents.

Apple provides Pages software, a cross between word-processor and lightweight page-layout, free, already installed on most Macs. It can, if you ask it to, both read and write Microsoft Word format files.

Numbers is free and available for spreadsheets. (if you ask it to, both read and write Microsoft Excel format files.)

Keynote is free and available for Presentations. (if you ask it to, both read and write Microsoft PowerPoint format files.)

There are also several Office 'work-alike' packages available as Open Software. LibreOffice and OpenOffice and NeoOffice come to mind.

You can also one-time purchase or procure an Office 365 subscription direct from Microsoft.

The ONLY source for Printer and Scanner Drivers is the manufacturer, unless:

The printer is a network printer (typically Ethernet) that offers Postscript or equivalent (then generic postscript driver or similar can be used).

The Printer offers AirPrint, a standard that means no special drivers are required, but no special features (like two-sided or collated) are available.

i believe the hurdle is due to Mac OS Ventura being the latest, some of the manufacturers are still developing or are in the testing stages for the driver. A tech with Fujitsu said the driver for 12 would work on the fi-7260 and the fi-8170. They are still testing the driver and therefore have not updated their webpage.

I appreciate your letting me know I may have broader options.

Thank you,

Sarah

Apple-Silicon M1, M1 Pro, and M1 Max, M1 Ultra and now M2:

Apple says every well-behaved ordinary Application, originally written for Intel processors (that does not use Virtualization) will run on Apple-Silicon. It will use Rosetta emulation to translate the Intel binary to M1-binary.

Your Intel Apps will run and not crash while being executed on a completely different processor than the one the developer used. This is a truly remarkable feature.

It runs, and you can get your work done, which is what Apple promised and delivered.

<< if you have recommendations for Equipment, I would truly appreciate any info. >>

This is NOT difficult. You generally do NOT need to select specific equipment that runs ONLY on Macs.

In some cases, you may need some modest adapters. Generally, stuff that works on a PC works on a Mac. If it has software Drivers, then the developer had to decide to make Mac Drivers as well, but those that choose not to participate in the Mac market are few.
