Choppy Screen Mirroring
I get choppy video/audio:
When mirroring any of my Macs running Ventura or Monterey (and all prior MacOS for that matter) to an AppleTV 4K (or HD). The default answer seems to be "It's a network problem, so restart everything." But that has never fixed the issue for me for many years in any location, network, setting, device, or OS. Today's Senior Advisor said that has been her experience since forever and that she felt that is "just the way it is."
This (still) occurs mirroring from my Mac mini (latest Ventura, >900 Mb/s via ethernet) and MBP (latest Monterey, >300 Mb/s via Wi-Fi any distance from my AP) mirroring to any of my AppleTV 4Ks (latest TVOS, >900 Mb/s via ethernet). I am on my third network set-up in my home and have more than adequate internet bandwidth and very strong Wi-Fi signals. It occurs when I am within 20' of my APs or connected via ethernet. It occurs similarly on other networks outside my home. *Literally* no other streaming or audio/video interactions on any other devices in my home ever have this issue.
Sooooooo, there are over 600 threads here on this topic stretching back many years. Is it reasonable to assume this core functionality simply can't be better, or is there a specific technical issue that Apple doesn't have in their support documentation?
Let's ignore the "new" behaviors of extended desktops in Monterey and Ventura that may be associated with Sidecar. Apparently one now must set up Screen Mirroring similar to adding additional monitors to your computer, rather than "clicking a button" and encountering the familiar screen mirroring behavior found prior to Catalina (or maybe it was Big Sur).
