We want to help, but need more information about what's going on with your Apple Watch. What were you wearing the Apple Watch, looked down and it only says Paused? Were you working out and the exercise paused and you can't get off the screen?
Restart Apple Watch - Apple Support has the following for force restarting. This should help remove the pause.
Force Apple Watch to restart
If you can’t turn off your Apple Watch or if the problem continues, you may need to force your Apple Watch to restart. Do this only if you’re unable to restart your Apple Watch.
To force restart, hold down the side button and the Digital Crown at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
