Sync between my iPhone and iPad

Until recently, if I delete an email message from my iPhone it is automatically deleted from my iPad. Recently messages deleted on my iPhone still show up on my iPad. I haven’t changed any settings as far as I know. Why do these deleted messages still show up as “Read” on the iPad and how do I get them to automatically delete?

Greetings Swimnfool,

We have a few steps we can offer that may resolve the issue.

  1. Power off and restart both the iPhone and the iPad. We know this sounds like a simple step, but sometimes a fresh restart can correct unusual behavior that pops up.
  2. Make sure both the iPhone and iPad are on the latest version of the iOS/iPadOS software. To check for device updates, go to Settings > General > Software Updates. If an update shows for either device, follow these steps to update the software: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support.
  3. Check your iCloud settings to make sure both the iPhone and iPad are logged into the same Apple ID for iCloud.
    1. On the iPhone: Go to Settings > [your name], and verify the Apple ID shown here.
    2. Open Settings on the iPad, tap [your name] and make sure that the Apple ID matches what it shows on the iPhone.
  4. Make sure that the iCloud feature is enabled for Mail on both devices.
    1. On the iPhone, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud, and make sure Mail is enabled.
    2. On the iPad, same thing; go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud, and make sure Mail is enabled.

We hope this helps to relate the issue.

Cheers!
