Apple pencil 2 high pitch sizzling sound

My apple pencil Gen 2 has been disconnected from my iPad for a few days. I went to attach it to the iPad and it did not show up as connected. I took it off and placed it back a few time before it popped up the notification it was detected. However it would not connect to the iPad. I noticed it had a high pitched sizzling sound coming from the pencil when it was attached to the iPad. The pencil makes the weird sound, will not fully connect and will not charge. Any help on what I may be able to do? The pencil is 2 years old.

Given your report, ensure that the Pencil is correctly seated - and carefully monitor the temperature of the Pencil while it remains docked with the iPad.

While the Pencil can be expected to become warm during charging, if you detect a sharp rise in temperature, remove the Pencil from the iPad. In such circumstance the Pencil battery may have failed - and the Pencil require replacement.
