You swipe the card in the magnetic stripe reader (the stripe visible on the back of the card), or dip the card for a chip reader (the chip goes into the reader), same as any other card.
Or you configure and use Apple Pay from the associated iPhone, if Apple Pay is supported by the gasoline pump you are using.
