Photos App - Photos are not synced with iCloud (Not enough storage)

Hi, a month ago Photos app started showing notifications that it is unable to sync photos to iCloud due to low available storage capacity. But iCloud has 1.6 GB free capacity! Attaching screenshots. Did anyone have similar error and managed to fix it?

Thank you in advance

Vregat,

Thanks for the additional information regarding your photos not syncing with iCloud.

We see that Low Power Mode is enabled. This will temporarily pause iCloud Photos to sync. The next step is to disable Low Power Mode. More info about Low Power Mode can be found here:

Farewell!

Hi Vregat,

For help with syncing iCloud Photos, choose the option 'Manage Account Storage' to further assist in checking if a potential backup awaiting creation, or an app is set to use additional iCloud storage. The guide here also has the steps seen below. Check your iCloud storage on any device - Apple Support

"Check your iCloud storage on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  1. On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud.
  2. The bar graph shows your overall storage usage.
  3. Tap Manage Account Storage or Manage Storage for more details.
  4. Below the graph, you see a list of apps and features and how much iCloud storage they use. The apps and features that use the most storage are at the top of the list. You can tap an app or feature for more information."

You can also check on the next backup size with the article here: If you can't back up to iCloud - Apple Support

If you still see you have enough storage, turn off low power mode and test. Use Low Power Mode to save battery life on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Cheers.

Greetings Vregat,

The screenshot shows you have 11 items not synced with iCloud. If you have large videos waiting to upload, then it's likely that 1.6GB is not enough available iCloud storage, and you may need to upgrade. Check out how here: Upgrade to iCloud+ - Apple Support

If the items waiting to upload are smaller files, such as photos, then see if a Smart Album named Unable to Upload has been created with the photos that did not upload. Select one of the photos in the album, apply an edit, and then see if the photo uploads to iCloud as expected.

The following article shows how can you apply an edit to see if that helps with uploading to iCloud:

Edit photos and videos on iPhone - Apple Support

"Straighten and adjust perspective

  1. In Photos, tap a photo or video thumbnail to view it in full screen.
  2. Tap Edit, then tap the Crop button.
  3. Swipe left under the photo to view the effects you can edit: Straighten, Vertical, or Horizontal.
  4. Tap the effect you want to edit, then drag the slider to make precise adjustments.
  5. The level of adjustment you make for each effect is displayed by the outline around the button, so you can see at a glance which effects have been increased or decreased. Tap the button to toggle between the edited effect and the original.
  6. Tap Done to save your edits, or if you don’t like your changes, tap Cancel, then tap Discard Changes."

Kind regards.
