Hi Pattyrie, We appreciate you reaching out to us. We understand that the "Show Recently Deleted" folder is not available on your device.

We’d like to gather additional details that may help us be in a better position to assist you. Are you using iOS 16 or later?

As mentioned in the article below, "you need iOS 16, iPadOS 16.1, or later to recover deleted messages and conversations. You can only recover messages and conversations that you deleted within the last 30 to 40 days."

Pattyrie,

Did you delete any messages recently. The option may not appear until after a message is deleted.

How long ago did you update? It may take some time right after an update for everything to fully index.

Let's also try restarting your iPhone.

These steps may help:

"How to restart your iPhone X, 11, 12, 13, or later

  1. Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears. The volume button is located on the left side of the device, and the side button is located on the right
  2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
  3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo."

More details can be found here: Restart your iPhone

Let us know the results.

Cheers!

Make sure that you are tapping on Settings, then scroll down and tap on Messages

iOS 16 must be installed on the phone

The message must have been deleted.....after....you installed iOS 16 on the phone

No more than 30 days have passed since the message was deleted

The Recently Deleted folder will not even show up unless it contains messages that meet all 3 of the qualifications above.
