Sharing existing photo albums

Is there a way to share an existing album without creating a new album and adding all the pictures? And the recipient should then see all current and future pictures added to the album? Thank you.

use case: I have an album already in iCloud. I’ve been adding to it for years. Now I want to share it with someone as I continue to add to it. We should both be able to see it now and into the future as pictures are added. The other person should have view only access Or the ability to add to the album, edit, and delete depending on the permissions given.

Hi Jlm0212,

While you can't convert an existing album into a shared album, it may not be as hard as you think to add photos.

You will first want to create a shared album and name it. Follow the steps below for adding photos. In step 1, when you tap Select, you should be able to glide your finger across the thumbnails without having to tap each one individually.

Add photos and videos to a shared album
1: In the Library tab or from within an album, tap Select and then select the photos and videos that you want to share.
2: Tap the Share button , then tap Add to Shared Album .
3: Choose the album where you want to share your photos. Then tap Post.

If you have a shared album open, you can also tap the Add button  to select photos and videos to add.

When you add new photos, the people that you share the album with are notified automatically. Make sure that Subscribers Can Post is turned on so that they can add photos and videos, too. Just tap the More button  then choose Shared Album Details .

Take care!
