Carplay + WhatsApp Messages Not Marked READ

Does anyone else find that when using Carplay with WhatsApp, the messages don’t mark as READ - causing you to have to listen to all the messages from that sender (since being in your car) each time before hearing the new one?

iPhone 11 Pro Max, iOS 16
