Photo Libraries

24” M1 iMac, OS 13.0.3


Trying to clean out old photos and went to look at how much space Photos was using. All these apparently photos storage areas showed up. Can I delete any of these?

It is hard to see, if any of these libraries are containing duplicates of photos that are also in other libraries. You have to compare the photos in these libraries to each other, to see if one of the libraries is redundant and can be deleted.


One way to find out would be, to open your Curren main Photos Library in Photos, and then use the command "File > Import". Then select your Pictures folder and select one of the smaller libraries. Photos will now show you the "New" photos or videos in the selected library for importing (all items that are no duplicates of photos and videos already in your larger library). select the items that you want to save and import them. Then you can delete the library you just imported from. truth same with all libraries in your Pictures folder.


You can also check the folders with recovered photos by trying the import the photos from these folders. Import only photos that are not shown as duplicates.
