configurator2 requires an update, downloads, fails

Trying to update supervised iPads to ios16 however configurator 2 states it needs a software update to do this. Update downloads but then says it cannot install...fails every time.

It sounds like you're having an issue updating devices using Apple Configurator 2.

We recommend checking out the steps in the section titled "Update devices" from the article here: Update devices using Apple Configurator 2 - Apple Support


1) In Apple Configurator 2 , attach all the devices you want to update, then select those devices in the device window.

2) Click Update  in the toolbar.

3) Select the type of update you want to perform:

*Apps only
*Latest system version
*Latest system version and apps


The reason why we're recommending the steps above is because they directly address the issue you initially posted about: you're having difficulty updating devices using Apple Configurator 2.
